Mission Statement

To build a strong, inclusive, and cohesive working relationship between Derbyshire Constabulary and the diverse Muslim communities across Derbyshire. Derbyshire AMP aim to deliver the development and delivery of services, support, policies, and practices that demonstrate equality, integrity, fairness, and respect to nurture a positive understanding and acceptance of faith diversity and tolerance for all citizens and staff.

Aims & Objectives

Derbyshire AMP Aims

  • Derbyshire Constabulary's Association of Muslim Police (AMP) aims to raise awareness and promote equality, diversity and inclusion on initiatives to facilitate better workplace environments for Muslims.
  • Celebrate positive contributions and outcomes allowing for everyone in the organization to feel that they are cared for and enabled to be their best.
  • Understand the different elements that create an inclusive workplace and increase awareness of the benefits of having an inclusive workforce.
  • Offer support to colleagues through resolving issues efficiently and implementing any lessons learnt providing governance and legitimacy to colleagues.
  • Derbyshire AMP seeks to proactively demonstrate the principles of equality, inclusivity, honesty, integrity and a respect and duty to the provision of justice and law and order for the safety and wellbeing of all citizens, all of which are at the foundation of the Islamic faith.

  • Raise Awareness and understanding about the importance for some to show elements of their faith within the workplace.
  • Endeavour to offer an element of professional development to members of the network.
  • Continue to ensure have access to the right working environment, practices and resources.
  • Help raise awareness of the benefits of having accurate workplace equality data.
  • Develop online resources to support members of our network and managers.

What is the Derbyshire AMP?

Derbyshire Association of Muslim Police provides a conduit for information, communication, training, and direct support to:

  • Derbyshire Constabulary and all Police Officer / staff on issues in relation to Islam, and the Muslim communities.
  • Be a conduit between Muslim communities across Derbyshire and Derbyshire Constabulary.
  • Allow local youth from the diverse Muslim communities to engage directly with Police Officers and staff on community issues.
  • Faith communities, in developing an inter-faith dialogue around faith tolerance, the justice system and respect for diversity.

Derbyshire AMP is a staff led faith based association that provides a platform for better engagement, dialogue and communication through Police Officers and Staff who are from the diverse Muslim communities. The association seeks to provide a forum that gives direct support for all employees of Derbyshire Constabulary on issues of Islam and cultural diversity within the Muslim community, alongside offering support for the Muslim Police Officers & Staff in being able to fully contribute and participate in their career with law enforcement.
